Aboriginal Youth Suicide Prevention Workshop

The River of Life workshop is designed to provide information & interventions for caregivers working with Aboriginal youth at risk of suicide aged 15 to 24.

 

Workshop topics include: - Story of Aboriginal People (past & present), Aboriginal Spirituality & Spiritual Aspects, Teachings, Protective & Risk Factors, Differences between self harm & suicide attempts, Recommendations from Literature Reviews, Community Resources

(Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)

More than 4000 Canadians kill themselves each year. The key to suicide prevention is trained individuals who are ready, willing & able to get involved with each person at risk. This workshop will train you to be one of those individuals.

 

 

 

Improve Your Reading Skills

This program is for anyone that would like to work on improving their reading skills. When we were younger and in school we had to read on a regular basis but as we get older we tend to read less.

The brain, like any other muscle, needs to be worked. Remember the old saying.

 “Use It or Loss It”.

If you think you have lost some of your reading skills the instructor will work with you, at whatever your reading level is.

 

 

 

Wills & Estates Planning

Responsibilities as an Executor

It is important that we all plan for the inevitable. By ensuring you have a proper will done and have an executor appointed to look after things you know your wishes will be carried out. Often, when there is no will, family members will have to sort everything out, which can lead to conflict among them.

Come to this short session and learn how to get things set up so that when the inevitable happens the process will be easier for those you leave behind.

Learn How to use Micro-Soft Word

Micro-Soft Word is the most commonly used word processor. Come & learn how to create documents, letters, etc. & then save them in your computer or on a disc. This also where you would write letters to send to your family & friends.

ATV Safety Awareness

At Northern Lakes College

 

Registration fee - $40

Registration deadlines:  May 7th

 

The short course will look at safe riding practices, exposure to the dangers of an ATV and the proper sizes of an ATV.

 

There will be draws for safety equipment during the program.

 

Note: this is not the course endorsed by the Alberta Safety Council, which is a 6 hours course & participants be riding appropriate sized ATV’s
