The River of Life workshop is designed to provide information & interventions for caregivers working with Aboriginal youth at risk of suicide, aged 15 to 24. Workshop topics include: Story of Aboriginal People (past & present); Aboriginal Spirituality & Spiritual Aspects, Teachings; Protective & Risk Factors; Differences between self harm & suicide attempts; Recommendations from Literature Reviews; Community Resources

It is important that we all plan for the inevitable. By ensuring you have a proper will done and have an executor appointed to look after things, you know your wishes will be carried out. Often, when there is no will, family members will have to sort everything out. This can lead to conflict among them and it is also very hard to deal with the loss of a family member and no one wants to deal with everything.

More than 4000 Canadians kill themselves each year. The key to suicide prevention is trained individuals who are ready, willing & able to get involved with each person at risk. This workshop will train you to be one of those individuals.

Hunter Education
April 23rd, 24th and 25th Friday 5:00 to 9:00 Saturday & Sunday 9:00 to 5:00 At Northern Lakes College Registration fee - $90 Registration deadline April 19th
This is a 20 hour program designed by Alberta Conservation, and is provincially mandated for anyone who wishes to hunt in the province of Alberta.. Once you complete this course you will receive your provincial certificate.

ATV Safety Awareness May 13th 6:00 to 9:00 At Northern Lakes College Registration fee - $40 This program is being offered twice Registration deadlines: May 13th and again on May 20th
The short course will look at safe riding practices, exposure to the dangers of an ATV and the proper sizes of an ATV. There will be draws for safety equipment during the program. Note: this is not the course endorsed by the Alberta Safety Council, which is a 6 hours course & participants be riding appropriate sized ATVs
Dog Obedience May 5th to June 23rd - Every Wednesday 7:00 to 8:00 May 5th at Northern Lakes College - High Prairie campus May 12th to June 23rd at the Ag. Plex Registration fee - $110 registration deadline - April 28th
